Welcome to Cape Town!

Hi everyone!

I have exciting news! We’re now moving to the second part of my time in South Africa. After a wonderful two weeks in Johannesburg, we boarded a plane and flew two hours south to Cape Town.

After first landing in Cape Town, we took a bus to our hotel in Sea Point. We stayed in the Mojo Hotel with a room overlooking the ocean, what more could I have asked for? After a brief period of unpacking, our tour guide led us through the streets of Sea Point. We explored our new home for the next two weeks and I knew from the beginning that I was going to love it- check it out in the video below!

In the months leading up to my time South Africa, Cape Town experienced a severe drought. Two days after we arrived in Cape Town a giant storm hit the area and closed down many local businesses and restaurants. One of my friends on the trip, Geneva, has the same sense of adventure I do so we suited up and headed outside to check it out. What was originally supposed to be a fifteen minute trip outside to take some pictures turned into an hour and a half adventure in the wind, water and foam. Check out our time in Cape Town’s storm in the video below!

After a few days, the storm cleared up and we were able to explore more of Cape Town. I was ecstatic because we had been basically confided to our hotel and I was itching to get out and explore. Check out the beautiful views of Cape Town in the video below!

We also visited the Cape of Good Hope. We really had to work for these views – the hike to the top was absolutely exhausting! This was the first place that the Dutch visited before they colonized the rest of South Africa, and now people from all over the world come to visit. Check out my time at the Cape of Good Hope in the video below!

Not only does Cape Town have amazing views but there was also many opportunities for some fun and adventure. Keep and eye out for my next blog post to see shark diving, paragliding, penguins and much more!
